I often hear from fans who attended a Chiefs game or another event at Arrowhead Stadium, received a citation or summons, and are now back home in another state. Their first questions are usually: Do I have to fly back for court? Can I just pay this? What happens to my record?
The first step is to take a breath, photograph both sides of the ticket, and identify exactly what you are facing. Look at the ticket to see the exact charge, the issuing agency, the court, the court date, and whether the ticket says the appearance is mandatory.
Arrowhead Stadium is located in Kansas City. Most citations alleging a Kansas City ordinance violation are filed in the Kansas City Municipal Division of the 16th Judicial Circuit. A charge brought under Missouri law may instead be filed in Jackson County Municipal Court. The charge, issuing agency, and court printed on the ticket control. Can a lawyer handle my Arrowhead citation without my returning to Kansas City?

However, the judge always retains the authority to require your physical appearance for a trial, plea, probation matter, bond issue, or other specific hearing. Until the court or your lawyer confirms otherwise, you must treat your existing court date as mandatory.
Can I negotiate my Arrowhead ticket directly with the Kansas City prosecutor?
No. In Kansas City Municipal Court practice, city prosecutors do not negotiate case resolutions with unrepresented defendants.

Depending on the charge, evidence, your prior record, the prosecutor’s position, and court approval, legal counsel may seek a dismissal, an amended charge, diversion, a suspended imposition of sentence, or another available disposition.

What should I do after receiving an Arrowhead ticket?

- Do not post details of the incident on social media. Public posts can be used against you.
